A Catholic must believe all Church has taught.
He must also assent to Pope on all teachings of faith and morals.
So , what happens if man called pope by almost everyone is a non Catholic?
Perennial Catholic teaching is he ain't pope.
Example. Francis says there's no hell.
Choice 1. Accept it. You're now a heretic, no longer Catholic.
2. Reject it. You are now schismatic. No longer Catholic.
3. Catholic response. Date obvious. Francis was heretic at time of election, he ain't pope. Reject him as pope, reject his nonsense.
Recognize and resist folks do #2. Kinda understandable in early days, but not Catholic. Also it hurts Catholic church and papacy, in people's minds.
